Joseph
Spring have finally sprung in beautiful Wallowa County. The snow has receded from the valley floor, leaving Joseph and Enterprise, our county seat, bustling with store owners doing their spring cleanup and getting ready to welcom tourists visiting their shops.
The Robins are back, the wild geese are nesting and the noise of lawn mowers & children playing in their yards is a very welcome sound.
I’m finally out working in my garden at home, but so far I’ve only found the time to clean and plant a few flower boxes in front of my office in downtown Joseph.
Stagestop Realty in the historic old Wallowa County stage stop building is located in the center of Joseph. This is the fourth successful real estate office I’ve had a hand in starting in the county and it is my pride and joy.
Our brokers work as a team and each was hand picked for their special qyalifications and skills, and specially trained to give you, the client, the best possible “customer service”. They have the knowledge and experience, as a team, to troubleshoot any problems that may occur between writing the contract to closing escrow. And it dosen’t end there. We have an extensive support team t help you with any day to day needs that may occur, from plumbers, contractors, to dog boarding and bakeries, we can recommend an excellent service provider.
I guess, this being my first time at blogging, I should tell you a little about myself. LAter, we’ll blog on about our beautiful Wallowa County, real estate matters and whatever else pops up!
So here goes!
Meet Karen Raminha. Principal Broker Stagestop Realty - Joseph, Oregon I have been a realtor/broker for the state of California and Oregon for almost 30 years. Many hours of classes and seminars plus my many interests and hobies help to enhance my skills in the real estate business.
Born in Riverside, California, I lived with my Grandmother up to my Jr. High School year. I then lived with my mother and father who was in the Air Force, and we traveled to many exotic places including Japan, Philippines, China and Hawaii, while spending 3 years stationed in Guam, in the Mariannas Island’s, where I graduated from High School. My father was transferred to Vandenburg AFB and we moved to Lompoc, California.
At the time I moved back to Riverside to take care of my elderly Grandmother and I worked for Pacific Telephone Co. as a long distance operator, and helped my husband in both building and driving stock cars and drag racers. Skydiving was another hobby that I participated in. Now, the highest off the ground I get is on the back of my horse.
I moved to San Luis Obispo County, California in 1975, as a single parent working long hours to provide for my family. A change in careers occurred and I found my niche in life… real estate.
Assisting others in finding and obtaining their dream homes evolved into a long-term commitment. i worked towaard and earned my broker’s license in California and Oregon, plus received recognition for being the top listing and selling agent many times. I received valuable experience while working for Prudential, Century 21 and Coldwell Bankers, where I was also the key speaker at many training seminars.
in my spare time I would pack up my children, dogs, horses and other local neighborhood children and head for the nearbyu beaches, or mountains for camping trips. I was a docent at Montana De Oro State Park helping maintain trails for horseback riders and hikers. Other activities included serving as president of the local woman’s trailriding group “The Happy Hoofers” and I was a member of the California “Cow Bells” the state cattlewomen’s group. Soft ball was anothe sport I enjoyed. I was a pitcher for local co-ed teams for many years, plus coaching my two children’s little league teams.
My husband, Dan Raminha who is the son of a Morro Bay ranching family had been visiting Wallowa County for many years and the first time he brought me to visit, I fell in love with not only the beauty of the area, but also the warm friendly people. This was an ideal location to call home. It’s the kind of place that just keeps pulliing you back until you just have to be here full time. In the past 45 years, Dan and I have made life long friends in Wallowa County.
I’m a GRI (Graduate Realtor’s Institute), ABR (Accredited Buyer’s Representative), CRS (Council of Residential Specialist) and I strive to keep up with the ever-changing world of real estate by attending many different schools, seminars and classes. One of the classes I recently attended was a strenous weeklong course, which included subjects on financing, agency, client representation, and other real estate related subjects. I also keep my California Realtors license current and maintain a relationship with many California Realtors that I’m able to share my listings with.
Currently, I enjoy camping, horseback riding, landscaping and caring for our home on 9 acres. I love raising a large garden, canning the fruit and vegetables, and quilting. i have made over 75 lap quilts for local nursing home residents.
Other organizations I belong to are the Wallowa County Board of Realtors, National Association of Realtors, Wallowa County Quilt Guild, Oregon Cattle Women’s Association, NRA, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Eagle Cap Shooter’s Association and the women’s auxiliary of VFW. I also founded Hometown Hero’s Support Group, when my son’s Army unit deployed for Iraq. I mail out approximately 30 boxes of goodies per month to our local sodier’s serving overseas. I’m also a member of the Enterprise Christian Church.
Well, that’s my story! I welcome any comments, stories, or suggestions that will help me on my blogging journey. Or if you just want to reminisce.
